30 Minute potato & leek soup

Hey look at this, two posts in two days, I do believe I am on a roll! As I have mentioned in earlier posts I was working on getting a potato & leek soup refined and just needed to get round to actually cooking it. Well with Mrs Cuddly still not feeling too well and not managing to have anything strenuous on the ol’ digestive juices it has been down to the soup to keep her alive and kicking.

That does remind me though, yesterdays post about the tomato soup is a one hit wonder. It is nice freshly cooked but it seemed to turn bitter as it cooled and went to reheat. Perhaps it’s the seeds from the tomatoes that turn it bitter when it’s been liquidised? Anyway please bare that in mind if your going to use it then I would either work out your quantities to suit or just be prepared to throw a lot out after you’ve cooked it. I’ll try and work on that in a couple of days.

Actual cooking!

Shocking I know but I have actually been in the kitchen and have I am proud to say managed to get some quite nice meals out on the go. First of all I made the potato & leek soup I said I would try and it was really nice to be fair considering I just kind of threw stuff together. Only problem is due to the spare of the moment cooking I neglected to have my phone with me so I couldn’t take any pictures. So I’ll save that recipe for another post. I’ll probably make it again within a couple of days.

This potato & leek soup did cause a discussion in the cuddly household actually. It’s more natural we both agreed to call it leek & potato. However I’m sure I heard somewhere once long long ago that you’re meant to name the most abundant ingredient first? So as a result I call it potato & leek whilst Mrs Cuddly stays true to the leek & potato.  Does anyone know which one is correct or are they both acceptable? Any input is always more than welcome.

Sitting and waiting

Hey people, sorry about the lack of posting but fingers crossed it’s time to get back in the kitchen. Lots of rain has certainly raised the ol’ spirits no end I can tell you!

I don’t know if I’ve ever mentioned it but I don’t think I can get by a day without having bacon or sausage for breakfast. To each their own but bacon and or sausage just starts my day off and keeps me generally happy and fully functioning until the early afternoons. Now I cook, or rather I used to cook my sausage in an halogen top oven. Continue reading “Sitting and waiting”
